Pinterest download not working? Check the cause first
Practical fixes for unsupported links, missing MP4 files, unavailable Pins and downloads that do not appear in Photos.
The link is rejected
pintload accepts secure links to individual Pins on supported Pinterest domains and pin.it short links. Board URLs, profile URLs, search results and links to unrelated websites are not supported. Open the exact Pin and copy its link again.
If a short link will not resolve, open it in your browser and copy the full pinterest.com/pin/ address. Do not paste a sharing message containing extra text.
The Pin opens in Pinterest, but the tool cannot read it
Your Pinterest app may be signed in. A server request from a downloader does not carry that login, so a Pin available to you may not be available publicly. Pinterest may also temporarily limit automated requests or change its page format.
Try the Pin’s own download option. If Pinterest is limiting requests, wait before retrying. Do not provide account cookies or passwords, and do not attempt to bypass a private board or creator restriction.
A video Pin gives no MP4 result
Some Pins link to an external video website. Others expose a streaming playlist rather than one downloadable MP4. A cover image is a separate file, so seeing an image does not prove that a downloadable video is available.
pintload currently supports direct MP4 files. It does not merge stream segments or extract videos from external services. Use the source website’s permitted save option or ask the creator for a copy.
The file did not appear in Photos or Gallery
Check your browser’s Downloads list and your device’s Files app first. A browser save can succeed without automatically adding the file to a photo library. On iPhone, open the saved file and use Share → Save Image or Save Video when available.
If a download stops part way through, check storage and connectivity. This tool limits each media download to 100 MB. For a larger source, use Pinterest’s native option if available or obtain the file from its creator.
The result worked earlier, then stopped
The Pin may have changed, been removed, or become private. A source file can also stop responding. Submit the Pin link again for current results rather than bookmarking the download endpoint.
pintload checks that a requested media file still belongs to the public Pin before serving it. This extra check prevents the download service from becoming a general-purpose proxy, but means a later Pinterest access failure can also interrupt a save.
Start with a public link to content you own or have permission to download.
Open the downloaderSource and further reading
Pinterest’s image download instructions explain the native option. Its copyright help explains why permission can still be needed.
