Pinterest MP4 downloads, video quality and streaming limits
Learn the difference between an MP4 file, a streaming playlist and a video cover image before downloading a Pin.
MP4 is a file; a playlist is a set of instructions
A direct MP4 URL points to a video file that a browser can usually save and play. An HLS playlist, commonly ending in .m3u8, describes a sequence of media segments. Saving the playlist alone does not save the complete video.
pintload lists direct MP4 files exposed by a public Pin. It does not combine HLS segments into an MP4. When a Pin is streaming-only, the tool reports that limitation instead of labelling the cover image as a video.
Available resolution depends on the source
A Pin may expose more than one MP4 version. Where dimensions are provided, the result shows them so you can compare actual files. A 720p file and a 1080p file can differ in size, compression and visible detail.
No downloader can retrieve a genuine 4K version if the source does not supply one. pintload does not upscale, re-encode, or add a watermark. It also does not remove marks already present in the video.
Why a downloaded video may not contain sound
First check the player’s mute setting and phone volume, then play the source Pin with sound enabled. The original clip may be silent. Changing an extension or downloading a cover image cannot add an audio track.
pintload passes through the source MP4 without processing its tracks. It does not generate missing audio or merge a separate soundtrack. If the source is incomplete, ask the creator for the original file.
Save a board or save a file?
Saving to a board keeps a reference inside your Pinterest account. Downloading creates a local file. A board is not a single media file, and this tool does not export entire boards or bulk-download a creator’s content.
Use the video downloader for an individual public Pin you own or have permission to save. For republishing or commercial use, check the original creator’s license separately.
Start with a public link to content you own or have permission to download.
